Door outcomes and field dispositions

Learn how to record field results like no answer, talked to owner, left flyer, and no soliciting when working your route.

Overview

Every door you knock gets a **disposition**—a field result that captures what happened during your visit. KnockTracer tracks outcomes like **Left Flyer**, **Sent Mailer**, **No Answer**, **Talked to Owner**, **Talked to Resident**, **Interested**, **Follow-up**, **Not Interested**, **No Soliciting**, **Bad Address**, and **Already Customer**. These dispositions help you stay organized, prioritize callbacks, and give your manager visibility into daily activity and pipeline health.

Recording accurate dispositions ensures you never lose track of a warm lead, helps route planning improve over time, and keeps your follow-up list clean.

How To

**Record a door outcome in the field:**

  1. **Tap the property** on the map or select it from your active route list.
  2. **Choose the disposition** that matches what happened—for example, select **No Answer** if nobody came to the door, or **Talked to Owner** if you spoke with the decision-maker.
  3. **Add a quick note** (optional) to capture important details like "Interested in fiber, wants callback Thursday" or "Gate code 1234."
  4. **Set a follow-up reminder** if the prospect asked you to come back—choose a label like "Tomorrow morning" or "Friday 3 PM" and KnockTracer will add it to your follow-ups screen.
  5. **Tap Save** to log the disposition with GPS and timestamp—this updates the prospect's status and creates a history entry your team can see.
  6. **Move to the next door** on your route—KnockTracer will guide you to the nearest unvisited property in walking order.

Tips

  • **Use "Talked to Owner" vs. "Talked to Resident"** to flag whether you reached a decision-maker or someone who can't sign up (like a tenant or family member).
  • **Mark "No Soliciting" accurately**—this prevents your team from revisiting homes with posted signs and keeps your route data clean.
  • **Leave a note on "Interested" doors** so you remember key details when you follow up—mention the current provider, pain points, or best callback time.
  • **"Left Flyer" and "Sent Mailer" dispositions** keep marketing touchpoints visible in the prospect's history, even if you didn't talk to anyone.
  • **Review your follow-ups daily**—dispositions like "Follow-up" automatically populate your callbacks screen so nothing slips through the cracks.

Questions

**What's the difference between "Not Interested" and "No Soliciting"?** Use **Not Interested** if the homeowner politely declined your offer. Use **No Soliciting** if there's a posted sign or the resident told you not to return—this flags the address so your team avoids future visits.

**Can I change a disposition after I save it?** Yes—open the prospect detail screen, tap the last activity entry, and update the disposition or add a new note. The history log will show both the original and updated field result.
